A Doggy Day

Call it superstition, call it belief or call it crazy, my week end ended up sloppily searching for a dog!!

My zest to hunt for a dog began with the numbing pain in the stomach that had no clues. Cardiologist, Radiologist, Gynecologist, general physician, orthopedic an… the list swells..Believe me none of them had any idea…on the pain!!

Ah..It’s time I decided…. None of the above “logists” could help me except an astrologer..(Rather astrologist?!!) . I believed those nine planets revolving are the culprits. With a triumphant look I headed to one of the city’s famous astrologer. After a long tiring wait, it was then my turn.

The astrologer started calculations after hearing the trouble from me. However imperturbable his looks were there was a rolling in my stomach…curious to know the rationale (?!!) behind the trouble, I was nibbling my nails.

Just then I decided to stop nibbling I heard the astrologer saying, “Feed a stray dog daily for a month’s time, it’s as simple as that!!”  . I too felt it to be effortless until I started it.

I was on my two wheeler to the nearby slum where I had normally seen some stray dogs. My solo search for the dog began with enough economical food and expensive petrol.  Alas!! I could hardly believe it was the same road.  Huge bulldozers and heavy machines were at work digging and creating large craters and man holes, for the upcoming bridge.

Not even a single dog could be traced. Sure all the stray dogs should have run away in the mess. My resolution (!!) to find a dog grew stronger. I strode along many streets ….and oh..Yeah….it was a dog. I was reluctant to disturb it and avoided being swift.  The dog should have sensed me coming….bsssssssss….it started running… needless to say I was behind it……it was the other way unusually… It escaped from my sight jumping into a drenched pit …can I do that? I could never imagine that…..

I should not give up any way..I thought strongly…my hunt for another dog began. This time there was a dog..but it was of no use to me….yeah..it wasn't a stray dog but was a Pomeranian…. Though it was wagging its tail for the biscuits I had..I gave it back a chilly smile gripping the packet tightly….(what if the dog bounced on me to take it .he.. he… )

Why can’t I make a couple of attempts? After all it was the first day…. I was imagining myself feeding a dog..Of course a stray dog(visualizing technique?!! ). This time I saw a dog at the far end of the street..but was miserably limping…..I approached it and bent towards the dog to boost it with the biscuits….and alas…God..believe me ……it fainted…. I was on real horror and anger this time.. I double checked the expiry date on the biscuit packet..thankfully the packet was alive ..but pity only the dog…It was lying still…

Then came the final attempt…. I found a dog sleeping in front of a jewelry  shop..It was a different strategy .Why not wake up a sleeping dog and feed it in case ..(Sleeps due to hunger??) ..My shrewdness can it ever be wrong..? I drew nearer to the dog…and ..and..barked gently. I looked around several times to ensure nobody was considering me. Blaap….I got a gawk from the shop’s security.

Nevertheless I gave him back a gleam smile and nodded my head..as if nothing had happened..(just like Mr.Bean)….The securities eyes were away from me…. A distant horn woke up the dog then and it was me who barked again…grrr….grunt… the dog gave a sharp look that shook my body that I almost dropped the biscuit packet on to its head and took to my heals…..!!

The next day I was on to my office via the same jewelry shop…I found the biscuit packet still lying unopened… he .he.

Life took me crazy….but… Nothing had happened is it?!!

  1. Dog is a very faithful animal. Better than human beings. So it always brings good luck in our life.
